President Farmajo addressed the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC)

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo addressed the Africa-China cooperation Forum in which he congratulated President Xi Jinping, the president of the people’s Republic of China and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing, on his exemplary reforms record and his government’s policies in leading China and its people towards a new dawn of greater progress and prosperity.

President Farmajo said Africa and Somalia, in particular, can learn much from Chinese successes and this can be achieved “through platforms such as FOCAC which promotes knowledge and experience sharing as well as sincere bilateral and multilateral cooperation.”

President Farmajo reiterated the tremendous progress made by his government so far in achieving peace, security, stability and development in Somalia.  In his speech, he presented the great investment opportunities of Somalia’s untapped resources and human capital which can benefit all investors and add even greater value to the Belt and Road Initiative.

He also stated in his speech that “Somalia fully supports the adoption of the joint declaration on “Building a Closer Community with a shared future between China and Africa” and the Beijing Action Plan of FOCAC.”

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo concluded by reminding his fellow heads of states the importance of partnership and cooperation for achieving the common goals of progress and prosperity of both Africa and China as envisaged in the joint declaration on “Building a closer Community with a shared future between China and Africa” and the Beijing Action Plan.
