Banadir Regional Court: Abdirhaman Abdishakur NOT guilty

Mogadishu (UM) – The Banadir Regional Court found the former Minister and Presidential candidate Abdirahman Abdishakur not guilty after he spent two days in prison.

After an intense argument between the accused’s defence lawyer and the lawyer representing the Attorney General’s office, the judge finally read out the verdict vindicating the accused . The Judge also ruled out any appeals against the courts decision stating that the decision is final.

Abdirahman Abdishakur was arrested on Sunday night when his house was raided by Somali intelligence agents who killed his bodyguards following the gun battle that ensued.

The Somali government accused him of treason and working with foreign countries in order to create chaos and political instability withim the country.

It is not known what the vindicated politician will do or whether he will sue the government for damages.
